Please may we introduce ourselves--Liz and Justin Flodman, the proprietors of The Duke's Head.
'Village Pub and Dining' explains our concept perfectly. A warm, friendly, atmospheric 'GASTRO' pub which happens to do great food. Along with friendly, helpful and attentive service, perfect pints and very good wine, this is somewhere that anyone would like to spend a few hours.
We look forward to serving you and your friends for a drink or a meal, and of course, offering you a very warm welcome to The Duke's Head.

About The Duke’s Head
The Duke’s Head is a true Essex gem combining all of the essential ingredients for a superb pub and dining experience. Our beautiful, comfortable and spacious interior, with two wood fires, makes it welcoming for all guests throughout the year. So if you’ve been walking the dog and kids in nearby Hatfield Forest or just fancy some great lunch or dinner we have the perfect place for you to relax. On your own, as a romantic destination or for larger groups of friends and family, we have the space and the menu.
We have created a pub restaurant which we ourselves would enjoy; and we know it’s all about detail. Our decades of experience in the industry, together with a dedication to sourcing the best local produce for the kitchen means we have achieved it. From the best Sunday roast (£13) in Essex to local game cooked to perfection, oysters, terrines, hot pots, shellfish and fresh seafood come at great value and all with a subtle but ingenious twist from Chef Proprietor Justin Flodman, who honed his career in the kitchens of culinary heavyweight Marco Pierre White.
Let’s not forget the drinks – a varied and generous wine list accompanies real ales from surrounding counties served by friendly and experienced staff ready to help with your choices; working lunches are made easier with our free wi-fi connection. A beautiful pub, in a beautiful village serving the very best we can get our hands on, no wonder our reputation is growing - so pop in and have a chat with us if you have any special requests. We look forward to welcoming you.
